Custom Animal Portraits From Your Photos

Each custom portrait I create is a new adventure! In creating my art, I bring together each subtle detail of your animal to bring to life their spirit and personality. My hope is to create a lasting artwork that serves to honor your animal friend and the happiness and love they have given you.

Your artwork and items will be shipped or can be picked up when the balance is paid in full.

    5. Enjoy your artwork!

  • Photos need to be approved for quality before booking. Quality artwork cannot be created with unclear or dark photos, and I would not want to waste your money trying! Follow the tips and Moe’s “Will My Photo Work” below for the best portrait results!

Photo-taking tips: Use the best-quality camera or phone that you have available. Get eye-level with the animal. Use natural lighting - outdoor in in-direct sunlight is best; indoors near a window will work as well. Do not use flash. Check that there are no dark shadows hiding the animal’s features or fur pattern. Take many photos so that you have several to choose from. Make it fun so that you can catch the animal’s personality in the photo! See studio cat Moe’s examples below!

If possible, send multiple photos so that I can get a good idea of the animal’s personality. Don’t forget to specify which is for the actual portrait. If you are not sure which photo to use, contact me and I will help you decide which would work best for the portrait.

Note: I cannot use professionally taken photos without written permission from the photographer. I will provide the form needed if requested.

If your animal has passed away, contact me with the photos that you have, and we will discuss if they will work as a reference. How to Choose Your Reference Photo

  • What type of materials do you use?

I create my portraits using professional-grade colored pencils on double-sided matte drafting film. When completed, the portrait is attached to a Bristol backing board.

Will my portrait last over time?

If you treat your portrait right it will last a very long time and resist fading. To help keep your artwork in like-new condition, frame it for protection from dust, place it out of direct sunlight (or behind UV-protective glass), and keep it out of high humidity rooms.

Did you go to school for art?

No, I am a completely self taught artist. I have been creating all my life. Until the last 5 years or so, I mostly created human portraits and still life using graphite. When I received colored pencils as a gift, a whole new colorful world opened up for me. Now my favorite medium, I create animal portraits and am starting to get into anything found in nature.

    Do you provide art lessons?

Currently, no. However, I am considering it for the future.
